Prof. Peter Waiswa provides leadership across academic, scientific, policy, and institutional spaces at national, regional, and global levels. His roles reflect long-standing trust in his ability to guide strategy, strengthen governance, shape technical agendas, and support evidence-informed action in maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health.
Leadership Across Global and National Health Platforms
Prof. Waiswa serves in several high-level advisory and governance roles that influence health policy, implementation, and systems strengthening. His portfolio includes leadership and advisory appointments with the Lancet Commission on Evidence-Based Implementation in Global Health, the WHO Guideline Development Group on Influenza Clinical Management, the WHO–UNICEF Informal Technical Advisory Group on norms for small and/or sick newborn care, the Countdown 2030 Health Policy and Systems Group, the Every Woman Every Child Advocacy Group, and the Uganda National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (UNITAG).
These roles position him at the intersection of science, policy, and implementation, where technical guidance must translate into meaningful systems change.
